Spring Cleaning should not purely be the domain or our closets but more importantly – our bodies.
The season of new beginnings is upon us.
We start to come out of a period of hibernation from the dark winter months to a period of rebirth, feeling more alive. First we welcomed the Spring Equinox, the Eclipse and Full moon so there was a lot going on.
Already I witnessed it here in London where the weather has been pleasant and every one starts to have a Spring in their step (no – pun intended) and feeling lighter and happier within in our bodies. We start to flirt with healthier options in terms of food and start thinking about Summer. Starting to obtain inspiration from our environment as we start to see the first blooms and new lambs being born.
The days start to get longer, warmer and brighter – the same can be be said of our body as we re-acquaint ourselves with our yoga practice.
Spring is an excellent time to cleanse from the winters slumber, together with some of the toxins that were acquired from the warm stodgy foods that some of us ate to keep the body insulated during the winter months.
The practice of yoga will help you enjoy this period of renewal so much more, as it helps us to be more mindful and take us away from our technology driven world that distracts us from the beauty of being more present and mindful.
Its a good time to think about what it not serving you well and how changes can be implemented.
Change is a good thing – something with which I can attest too – although it may be frightening. If I had not embraced the change and viewed it as an opportunity I would not be on the path I am on now and loving it.
So enjoy the freshness of this season and embrace the opportunities for change and renewal that appear within your life.
