Meet my good friend Juliane.
We have known each other and been practising together for almost 10 years. You might recognize her from Yogasteya pictures. She was one of my first serious students. I think she looks like Anna Kendrick! Say hey to Juliane
When did you start practising yoga?
I started practising yoga in the Summer of 2008 (I think).
Why do you practice yoga?
I practice yoga to calm my overly active brain and to block out any negativity surrounding me. I also practice because it gives me strength and the stretching I need to keep my body aches at bay.
What is your favourite style to practice?
I enjoy all classes taught by Dianne Bondy, so the DB style. 😉 There is a lot of different styles on Yogasteya, so that keeps me interested.
What is favourite pose?
I love pigeon pose and poses that use the wall.
What is your biggest aha moment about yourself that your yoga practice helped you realize?
My biggest aha moment from yoga is that I realized that my mind is a very busy place and that I had no real way of shutting down all my thoughts, even for a few seconds. Yoga helps me focus all my energy into my poses so that I can let the little and big distractions of life disappear for a while. Yoga has succeeded in challenging me physically and mentally, and I appreciate its presence in my life.
