The fifth class in the Chakra Yoga series works on the Throat or Visuddha chakra. This is the first of the higher or spiritual chakras, as we begin to move higher within the physical body as well as in our connection to a higher Spirit or consciousness. This chakra is located in the region of neck and shoulders and is represented by the colour blue.
To me, this chakra is all about speaking your truth! Balancing this chakra invites us to explore discernment, and living a life of awareness. Today’s physical practice maintains a more gentle and meditative focus, building off the heart-opening postures explored in class #4. For this practice, you will need a bolster or cushion, 2 blocks, a strap, and 2 blankets

This practice invites you to connect with the Throat or Visuddha chakra from a comfortable seated position, before moving through slow, gentle movements. Next, you are invited to explore gentle back bending sequence comprised of a gentle Fish pose and flowing Bridge sequence. Several gentle and supported modifications allow you to connect with this chakra at a deeper and more mindful approach.
