These next seven classes are going to explore each of the main seven Chakra’s. Today, we begin with the Root (Muladhara) Chakra. In this series, we’ll explore the concept of balancing and opening the Chakras, as well as learning how each Chakra connects with your own personal practice. Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means “Disc” or “Wheel.” The image in the video shows the location of the 7 Chakra’s. The Root Chakra or Muladhara Chakra, is located at the base of the spine and is represented by the colour red. This chakra, represents our grounding and sense of security. It is associated with the lower three vertebra of the spine, the colon and liver. In this class, you are invited to explore stable and balanced standing postures, working with your base functions and sense of stability. You will begin with a grounding meditation, followed by gentle flowing standing postures. This practice ends with a grounded seated series, closing with Bridge pose and a gentle reclined twist before settling in to a support Savasana.
