The Crown Chakra or Sahasrara is located at the top of the head and is believed to be the meeting point between the finite body and ego and the infinite universe and soul. This auspicious chakra is represented by the thousand petal lotus of light and is the gateway or connection between yourself as an individual and the Supreme Consciousness or Spirit. When balanced and activated, this chakra provides a clear way of living that goes beyond the limits of your own ego.
As this Crown Chakra is deeply meditative and mystical, today’s practice only includes 3 poses, which are delivered in a hatha style without the flowing sequences you may be familiar with from the previous videos in this series.
The final pose in the 7th chakra practice is Headstand, an inversion posture that intimately connects with the Crown chakra. Modifications will be provided for beginners and those new to this particular inversion. For a more gentle inversion, please refer back to supported Shoulder Stand and Fish pose described in video #6 for the Third Eye Chakra. Forward Folds may also be used in place of an inversion as well. Be prepared with 3 blocks and any other props you wish to you use prior to beginning today’s practice. Once you’re ready, let’s begin our journey inward!
