Coming to the top of your mat in a vinyasa, or yoga flow, can be challenging and intimidating.
The term ‘vinyasa’ refers to linking together several yoga poses in a rapid sequence. Sun Salutations are a great example of popular vinyasas in action. While there are countless transitions available, many of them happen quickly and require a great deal of mobility.
Most vinyasas require you to walk, step, or jump your feet to your hands at the top of your mat. All three of these options require cardio endurance, strength, and lots of flexibility. These transitions can be especially challenging for abundant yogis.
A common alternative that I like to offer is walking your hands back towards your feet, and then walking to the top of your mat. But, while this method is more accessible, it’s also a bit slower. And unfortunately, this slower pace can leave you a beat or two behind other students in a public yoga class.
So, how can you come to the top of your in a vinyasa quickly and safely?
In the following 10-minute yoga tutorial, you’ll discover new methods of coming to the top of your mat in a vinyasa or yoga flow-style of movement. Here, you’ll find new ways of moving that are quicker in pace, while still respectful of abundant body types.
