In yoga, arm balancing poses invite us to experiment with our physical strength, while also exploring our fears and insecurities. Flipping your body upside down seems unnatural, and of course that can be scary. Many abundant bodied students avoid Forearm Stand all together, and many teachers don’t know how to safely instruct their students into and out of this pose.
But, what’s the best way to tackle any tricky yoga pose? By calling on your tools, props, and playfulness! In the Turn It Upside Down with Forearm Stand tutorial, you’ll learn a number of variations that build up to a safe and stable Forearm Stand yoga pose. In this video, I’ll be working with my Infinity strap. The Infinity strap provides compact support that can help with shoulder stability. You’ll also need two stable blocks, preferably cork blocks for additional support. Be sure to set up your mat close to a wall before getting start.
